Minutes of Thursday March 27th 2003



Present: Marnie Essery, Sandy Warren, Lillian Szpak,
Daffoni Pendleton, Donna Gramigna, Sandy McPherson (recorder)
Regrets: Doug Nutting, Fay Causey, Cynthia Day

1. Approval of the agenda



Daphne moved and Lillian second that the agenda as amended be approved, carried.

2. Adoption of the minutes



Lillian moved and Donna seconded that the minutes of February the 20th be approved, carried.

3. Presentation

- No guest speaker

4. Old Business



a) April 6 brunch at Royal Roads University
- the brunch is intended only for those who attended the volunteer recognition dinner on Nov. 30th.

b) Grant-in-aid request letters
- there have so far been no responses to the grant-in-aid request letters.
Donna said the letter for Metchosin had been forwarded to the Chair of the finance committee.
Response from the Highlands is expected in April.

c) Arena letter-Marnie circulated a draft letter
to go to Darcy Kray of Dur West Construction with a copy to Monty Holding,
Administrator of Juan de Fuca Parks and Recreation.
The letter is to reinforce points that members raised at the previous meeting
and which have already been discussed by Doug Nutting with Monty Holding.
Mr. Holding was receptive to input and will forward suggestions to the arena architect.
Doug Nutting and Monty Holding will continue to be in touch throughout the planning and construction phase.
Members wrote suggested changes on the letter and returned to Marnie to do the final letter
and mail it to Darcy Kray once she has obtained his contact information.
A copy will also go to Denise Blackwell, chair of the Juan de Fuca Parks and Recreation society.

d) Follow-up re seniors medical equipment assessment-Doug has had insufficient time to follow-up on this item.
